Brigade Command Team Welcome Letter

On behalf of the 106th Signal Brigade Command Team, welcome to Fort Sam Houston and congratulations on your selection as a new member of the Brigade Team!  As the Brigade Commander, We would like to personally extend a heartfelt welcome to you and your family to San Antonio, TX.  This historical post is located in the heart of San Antonio and is also the home of the Army’s Medical Corps.

You will be serving in a newly re-activated Strategic Signal Brigade with the mission of providing NETOPS to the western region of the CONUS LandWarNet and bridging the communications gap between generating bases and operating forces. Before inactivating in 1997, the 106th was located in Corozal, Panama providing signal support to United States Southern Command.  Our higher headquarters is the 7th Signal Command (Theater) at Fort Gordon, Georgia and United States Forces Command at Fort MacPherson, Georgia.

Your assignment here will place you on the cutting edge of technology in the Signal Corps and provide the unique opportunity to provide world class communications support to Warfighters across the western United States. You will work with unique equipment in support of command, control, computers, communications, and information (C4I) systems that link tactical and strategic networks providing seamless communications.  You should be proud to serve with the lead element of the Signal Corps’ transformation.

Fort Sam Houston is not only a great place to train and be a Soldier; it is also a great place to live and sightsee. San Antonio is the seventh largest metropolitan area in the United States and post is within minutes of downtown and the historic Alamo, and just a short drive to the beaches of Corpus Christi, Port Aransas. The capital of Texas, Austin, is only an hour way. We encourage you to learn about the post by visiting the Fort Sam Houston Museum and by going out to explore the city of San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country.

Always remember that it is every Soldier's duty to keep physically fit and morally eligible to report for duty. The command team has high expectations of every Soldier assigned to the 106th Signal Brigade. We expect you to live the Army standards and values in every aspect of both your personal and professional performance. We know that you will find this assignment both challenging and rewarding, and we look forward to you joining our team.

Should you have questions or require assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us through the contact information posted below. Welcome to the brigade!
