There are several options for submitting the Hometown News Release form; electronically by clicking the DD 2266 link (use 816 for the code), by fax to (210) 221-1730, by mail or in person to:

Submit by fax or in person

  • Right mouse click this link (PDF File
  • requires Acrobat Reader™)
  • Select “Save Target As...”
  • Select the location where you would like to save the file (i.e. Desktop) click and save.
  • Locate the file “hometown_news_request.pdf” in the location where you saved it.
  • Open the file in Adobe Acrobat reader.
  • The file can be filled in by selecting the fields in the form.
  • Print the form after and sign your name at the bottom.
    (Form must be signed or will not be accepted.)
  • Fax your signed request to the Public Affairs Office at (210) 221-1198.

**If you choose to include a photo with your release, digital photos must be jpg images with the .jpg file extension. The minimum size of 3 1/2” x 5” and a maximum size of
5” x 7”. The file size should not be larger than 1.1 megabyte. If going through the color correction process, doublecheck the
final result before sending.

Fort Sam Houston personnel who want to share news of their accomplishments and achievements with Family members and friends back home can participate in the Army and Air Force Hometown News Program.

The Hometown News Release Program is administered by the Fort Sam Houston Public Affairs office and is designed to help Soldiers highlight their accomplishments in their hometown newspapers.

Whether you are active duty, reservist, Guard or a Department of Defense civilian you can fill out the hometown news release, the Department of Defense Form 2266 and forward it to the Public Affairs Office. The Public Affairs office will then forward the form to the Air Force News Service Agency for distribution toevery media outlet within a 50-mile radius of the zip code that you specify on your form.
