Command Sergent Major

Command Sergeant Major Kenneth O. Williams is a native of North Carolina. He entered the Army on 14 July 1978 as a Radio Teletype Operator. He attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, Georgia.

Throughout his 30-year career, he has served in a variety of leadership positions from Squad Leader and Operations Sergeant to First Sergeant culminating with his current position as Command Sergeant Major, 7th Signal Command (Theater). His most recent assignment was as Command Sergeant Major for 516th Signal Brigade, NETCOM, Fort Shafter, Hawaii. He has served as the Command Sergeant Major for 44th Signal Battalion, 7th Signal Brigade; 43d Signal Battalion, 2d Signal Brigade; 2d Signal Brigade, 5th Signal Command; and 7th Signal Brigade, 5th Signal Command, in which he deployed with in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM. Additionally, he completed First Sergeant assignments at Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 302d Signal Battalion; 181st Signal Company, 43d Signal Battalion; and Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 5th Signal Command. He served in 1/41st Mechanized Infantry, 2d Armored Division; 3/8 Cavalry, 8th Infantry Division; 1st Signal Battalion, 1st School Brigade; 360th Signal Battalion, 15th Signal Brigade; and 518th Signal Company (Linderhof), 160th Signal Brigade.

His military education and training include the Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Drill Sergeants Course, First Sergeants Course, United States Army Command Sergeants Major Academy, and the Command Sergeants Major Course.

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (7 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (6 OLC), the Drill Sergeant Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badge, and the German Schutzenschnur Badge (Silver). He also holds the Signal Corps Regimental Association’s Silver Order of Mercury.
